Dean Alster is a guitarist, bassist, and composer.

Dean began playing the guitar at the age of seven. He studied the classical guitar with Frank Pantaleo who was a contemporary of Andres Segovia, jazz and bossa nova with Nicholas Zaninovich, and jazz and blues with Robben Ford.

Dean has been teaching professionally since 1975. His students have earned top NYSMMA scores and have started their own bands, including the guitarist from “Nine Days” who had a top 10 national hit. He has also had half a dozen students that were accepted to Berklee School of Music in Boston, MA.

He has been playing with wedding, original, cover and pit bands since 1974 performing styles such as rock, swing, blues, country, and doo wop. Dean also has recording experience laying down soundtracks to radio commercials.
